  • 5 bags full

    Would you believe!

I managed to pack all of my UFOs into the car, under the cot, for the trip to Texas. *grins*

I couldn't decide which ones to take.

So I took all of them.

    ALL of Them!!

    5 bags full.

It may be a lumpy sleep, but I'll have lots of choices and chances to work on UFOs while I'm gone...and one new project to reward myself if I get some of those finished.

Just a few more things to pack, a bit of deskwork to finish so Hubs can take over, a little shopping for last minute items, and I'll be ready.

    I'm so ready.

  • Not a lot of productive thinking going on

Looks like I'm in for rain and thunderstorms today, so not a lot of productive thinking going to go on, I guess.

It will be a good day to knit.

    Something very, very easy.

That would be wonderful, except yesterday, before I drove to the airport to pick up Hubs, I changed my mind about what knitting to take on my trip.

I decided I didn't like what I was going to take and put it back with all the other UFOs.

That precipitated a whole ... uh ... thing.

    You know, that thing?

The "take down all the UFOs, evaluate what needed to be done to finish them, figure out what needles they were holding hostage that I just might NEED while I was in Texas, and throw it on the pile to go with me...you know, just in cast I might finish it so I can use the needles for something ELSE while I'm there" kind of thing. Right?

So, after ALL of the UFOs (... well, all of them EXCEPT for the felted bag, and Jenna sweater, and crocheted mile-a-minute afghan, and easy cable mittens, and Coco mitten-scarf thing ... and maybe one or two others ...)

All of the UFOs sat in a pile in the middle of the floor.

    And I looked at them.

And felt really, really bad that I had all of these things undone.

All of their potential sitting in a pile of plastic bags.

And all of them screaming, "TAKE ME!" "NO, TAKE ME!" "PLEASE, PLEASE TAKE ME!!"

    *sigh*

So I did what ANY sane knitter would do when faced with such an overwhelming choice.

I shut the door and went to pick up Hubs.

I did NOT open the door when we got home. Not that Hubs would say anything, but who wants to be haunted by the yarn voices when they're trying to sleep?

    Not me!

    So...

IF the rain goes around us, IF I can actually think, I'll make some choices and pack my knitting for the trip up and have at least THAT part of my packing done.

    And if not?

If the rain stays all day?

    Easy. Then I'll decide tomorrow.

    And?

If it rains on Sunday, too, and my brain stays in outer space?

If on Monday, you're driving southwest, and see a woman driving next to you with a one foot section of windshield clear of yarn,...

    It might be me.

  • 100-4

In the spirit of 101 things you don't know about me, here is another thing most of you don't know about me...

    #4, I think...

    1. podcast addiction

    2. sourdough

    3. cowboys fan

    yup, #4

    I'm afraid of chiropractors.

When I was a teenager my best friend in the whole world went to the chiropractor weekly. Her whole family went. So when she moved and I went to stay with her for 2 weeks, they took me along to see the chiro, too.

To say I was a tense teen would be so far in the realms of understatement it's not funny. Trust wasn't my long suit, either, but that's a story for some other 101 things.

We were told to lay face down on a padded table with our faces in a hole, and relax. Of course, I immediately tensed up. And when the Chiropractor started twisting my head around on my neck, and trying to turn it backwards like an owl, it HURT!

I screamed, jumped up and ran shaking out of that office and out of the building, and I've never been back in a Chiropractor's office since.

Now my friend Jude has gone to one, and she's got much less pain than she used to have. My sister goes to one successfully. My husband has seen one for a broken thumb and a bad neck, and it seemed to help him. Even my daughter goes to one. But not me, not woosy scaredycat ol' Mom. Uh uh. Nope...

Yesterday morning I woke up with a stiff neck. It's still there today.

Jude says that Chiropractors don't do the bone cracking head thing anymore.

    Uh huh.

Did I say trust wasn't really one of my strong suits.

    Just sayin'.

Thinking about it doesn't hurt, though.

Not like that neck thing did. That was quite a long time ago.

I understand they don't do those 'Dark ages' types of things anymore.

    So I'm thinking about it.

But for now, that's all I'm going to do. Just think about it.

  • Who's counting

    I'm still here.

    I haven't left yet.

I haven't even finished packing, though I do know what knitting and spinning I'm taking. *grins*

I don't leave for a few more days, but I keep catching myself with the mental lists...

"Today you have to bathe the cat, pay the bills, and clean up the office and kitchen table. Oh, and weed the garden. Also pick up prescriptions.

Tomorrow you need to set things to holiday mode, finish laundry, and pick up Hubs from the airport.

Saturday you need to update Hubs on bills and dog meds and chimney (non)repair, and check the car (tires, oil, coolant).

Sunday you need to finish packing. (the SQQWEEEeeeeEEEeeeEEeee starts here)

    Monday.

I leave for the year 1875 on Monday.

1875... before the internet, before television, before the telephone…

    In 1875 there was silence.

    Bliss.

    You're gonna miss me.

    *grins*
